About the band

High Speed Hangover is Bristol’s alternative covers band – covering all those tunes you love but are too embarrassed to request!

Sharon George – Vocals

After 8 years of singing and performing musicals in a local amateur group called KLOG http://www.klogs.co.uk, Sharon decided to fulfil her burning desire to be in a band by joining HSH. Sharon has a wide variety of musical tastes which allows her to approach most songs with the same level of enthusiasm and determination to learn them in the shortest amount of time possible. Sharon hopes our performances will get you up on to the dance floor for a boogie, sing along and all round good time.

Richard Wadsworth - Keyboard & Vocals

Richard has previously played in Pond Life with Ben and Blue-Footed Booby with Ben and Jon. His music of choice is ballads and 80s cheese, preferably with several key changes (this is often a useful way of identifying which songs in a set have been suggested by Richard). He also writes songs, and in 2004 submitted one to the UK’s selection programme for the Eurovision Song Contest. Incredibly it was rejected by the BBC in favour of a song which went on to finish 16th in the Contest, however, he has vowed to try again.

Jon Killeen - Bass

Jon was previously a member of Blue Footed Booby (including Ben and Richard) (myspace.com/bluefootedboobyband) before high speed hangover. His favourite music is alternative/indie/rock, however, he has a varied taste so won’t turn any of it down, within reason..

Tim Crump - Guitar

Tim’s reputation as Bristol’s most enthusiastic guitarist stretches all the way from his flat to the bottom of his street, where local fans of guitar-driven pop bang regularly on his front door, begging him to play louder. He studied a full range of contemporary guitar styles for a year at The Institute in London before returning to Bristol to play rockabilly and busk, before joining the Hangover in late 2007. His main interest is providing leads and fills with enough authenticity to do justice to the hugely-varied set list that makes the band so special.

Ben Clayton - Drums

(website)

Along with Richard, Ben is involved in a pop-folk outfit called The Waterfront Project (myspace.com/waterfrontproject) who meet up occasionally for gigs. Previously he drummed for Pond Life (www.pondlifemusic.net) a comedy-pop band formed while at Bristol University – progressing from using a beaten-up ‘Spamaha’ keyboard to a Roland Electronic Set. Way back in ‘99 he was one half of a two piece electo-goth band called the infidel (myspace.com/theinfidelmusic) and a producer of cheesy dance music under the moniker duppy. Predictably Ben’s favourite musical style involves lots of drums played very loud and very fast (like this)
